the knot going green party!

February 27, 2008 by Alea  -  The Scoop

Hey All!
I commonly get the question, "Don't you love your job?". Well, honestly, I do. I do LOVE my job! I get to meet the most amazing people, get to go to some really cool places(definitely a perk), I get to use my camera everyday, photographing weddings and people's most special milestones is just an awesome privilege, and really I just get to play everyday! Last night we had the most amazing time at an event that was hosted by The Knot! Being that they are the number 1 wedding website and magazine in the country- it wasn't a surprise that they knew how to throw a fabulous party!
So last night while Kim and I were sipping on our apple martini's, enjoying some wonderful food and music, getting to meet some of the most awesome folks from the industry- i just kept thinking to myself- man I LOVE MY JOB! We were just giddy the whole time or it could have been the martini's! haha!
A big thank you to The Knot for throwing an awesome bash! here are some photos from last night!

Kim holding the signature drink for the evening the apple martini! YUM-O!

going in the scrapbook for sure!

this wasn't the cover from the magazine we were featured in, but we thought it was still cool to take a photo

the meal for the evening was from the catering company called a legendary event- which we haven't been to a wedding that they had done, but for this party i was just blown away by the awesome food! They had a menu called the Kaleidoscope and essentially the concept was you would go up to the chef station and pick one item from four sections- the protein, starch, vegetable, and sauce. They whipped up our plates so fast, and it was AWESOME!

I had a filet, and kim had the lamb! doesn't it look super yummy!

The other coolest part of the night was I won one of the door prizes the knot was giving away! I don't win anything and never have one anything.. well side from my iphone, haha... but it was so cool to have won something from the knot party! The gift was this awesome sake set from Tulles of the Trade! They make these wonderful gift baskets for all types of events! What a great idea! One less thing you will have to worry about for all your wedding guests!

abby + paul

February 25, 2008 by Alea  -  Weddings

Abby and Paul's wedding was the last wedding we shot in 07! Abby has to be one of the most easy going and relaxed brides we've ever photographed and she was awesome. We get the best photographs when the couples are not worrying about the details of the wedding but enjoying their day.
Abby's dad is the owner of Bob Steele Salon, and i have to say they did an AMAZING job on hair and make up! Abby is definitely a naturally beautiful girl, but after the make up and hair she looked like she was ready to walk the red carpet!
Their wedding was at the Carl House, with a little bit of a christmas theme with red flowers, christmas lights, garland wrapping the entire stairwells and balcony, and a huge fabulous christmas tree- just beautiful!
My most favorite part throughout the day was their puppy getting to deliver the rings to abby and paul during the ceremony! Abby trains guide dogs and has been training this puppy for a little while, so it was awesome that he got to be included!
Abby and Paul, you both really know how to throw a wonderful party! We were so thrilled to b able to be a part of it, and be the ones to get to document such a special day! Thank you again, and lots of joy to you both!
Cheers,
Alea and Kim

i thought it was so awesome that abby's dad was the one putting on her veil!

waiting patiently before it was his turn!

not your traditional father-daughter dance!

american idol

February 22, 2008 by Alea  -  Personal

so we would like to admit that we are american idol watchers! the coolest thing for me is we got DVR this year, so NO commercials! which has made watching the show that much more pleasant! Yes, I know it is really surprising that we actually have time to watch tv and sometimes we probably stay up way to late to actually watch our favorite shows- like LOST!!
anyway back to american idol! I would love to hear who your favorites are! I have a few but if I had to pick my absolute favorite it would be Michael Johns who is from atlanta! Besides being incredibly good looking (which i told my husband- we have this inside joke because i tell my "best friend" when I think the a person of the other gender is good looking and it just so happens that my best friend is my husband! awe aint that sweet!) he also has this rock'en voice! I LOVED his version of bohemian rhapsody!
for the gals my pick would be brooke- she is just so sweet, and well really she reminds me of one of my very near and dear friends! So, i think I am just partial because of that! But, there are a lot of great ones this year!!
i would love to hear who your are, so post'em below!

We are headed to a wedding in Gatlinburg, TN this weekend! so, ill be posting some picks from that soon!
Cheers,
alea

Lindsey + Stephen

February 18, 2008 by Kimberly  -  Weddings

What a way to start the New Year! We photographed Lindsay and Stephen’s wedding on January 5, the first weekend of 2008! With the beautiful day, all the special touches and all the happy people, our job was made easy!!

I always have to mention some of my favorite things about the day and this day is no different. I loved the decorations in the church! They were so simple and so beautiful. Not only are white flowers my favorite, but the altar was adorned with candles hanging from strands of raffia. It was so different that anything I have seen that I really wanted everyone to see how cool it was. Now if there is only a way I can figure out a way to use the idea in my house! :)

Lindsey & Stephen, thank you both so much for helping Alea and me to start 2008 off right. We are always talking about how lucky we are to have such wonderful couples and you two are no exception. We had so much fun with you both and hope that each year to follow is even better than the last!

Enjoy!!
Kim
