Kathleen Loves Shak!
|

What an event Kathleen and Shak's wedding was! There were so many cool things about their day, it's so hard to pick my favorites!! Their black tie event started with their ceremony in the heart of Atlanta. Piedmont Park! The light was so perfect and low that it made everything golden which meant that we really couldn't help but take way too many pictures!
Their reception was at the Piedmont Driving Club. It was actually our first time there and it was such an amazing place that however I try to describe it, I could never fully make you understand the awesomeness of the night! The grand room filled with arches, giant chandeliers down the center, the swing band and the most amazing group of friends and family made the night seem like it was a scene out of a movie. I know that sounds silly, but it's totally true!
Kathleen and Shak - It was so wonderful to have the chance to spend such a special day with the two of you! It was truly an experience and a night that Alea and I can only describe as awesome!! We wish you two nothing but love and fun:)
Enjoy!!

meet our feature!
|

About every couple months, we love featuring one of our couples! There isn't any requirements or interviews to get featured, its more a, "we would really love to share what this couple did during their wedding, so let's share them with the world!" kind of feature! We love all our couples, and wish we could feature everyone!! Unfortunately, just not enough time to do that! haha...
You can always see who our feature is by visiting the feature link on the website!
Anyway, we wanted to make it more of an introduction to each of our features, so I am so excited to introduce our feature for February/March!!
Meet Lisa and Greg!
|

Here's their feature story!
How long have you two been together?
Let’s see… Greg and I met in 1999 through his best friend (our best man) Dan. When we met I already had plans to move to San Diego. So, we dated about a year and then I left for the West Coast. We stayed in touch and we visited each other but we dated other people, traveled and grew up. After 4 years I decided to move back to North Carolina. When I got back to the East Coast, we picked up exactly where we left off. We have been back together for about 5 years now. We were meant to be, a measly 3,000 miles couldn’t keep us apart.
First Kiss?
So, romantic… in the parking lot of Applebee’s (hee hee). It was after our first date, playing disc golf on campus at UNC Chapel Hill. He was dropping me off at work.
When was the first time you knew he was the one?
I was at an internet café in Portugal with my friend Jenn and I was reading her the last email I received from Greg. And I just thought, “what the heck am I doing?!” He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I’d be an absolute fool if I let him slip away. It was truly an “A Ha” moment for me.
How did he propose?
We just finished a hike at Morrow Mountain in North Carolina and as we started to get ready to go, he got down on one knee. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful moment.
What was your wedding style?
Our wedding style was bold, red, simple and personal. All red (for me) and white (for the bridesmaids) carnation bouquets (great for the budget bride), the guys wore their own black suits and the ladies wore their own little black dresses. We skipped out on personalized napkins and favors and instead had wedding pictures of family and friends and table numbers were important dates (anniversaries and wedding dates). We wrote the entire ceremony ourselves and picked music that meant something to us. Those are the things people remember.
Dress Designer?
The dress was designed by the label Marisa. I actually found the dress at a Bridal consignment store. It would have been double the cost if I had bought it at a bridal salon. I love a deal!!
Cake?
Yes please. Oh! What kind of cake? Our wonderful friend, Kelly Farrow gifted our wedding cake. It was a three tier cake. The bottom layer was white cake with strawberry buttercream, the second layer was chocolate with peanut butter buttercream, and our top layer is chocolate with vanilla buttercream. We are looking forward to eating that next year!
Your first dance song?
Our first dance song was “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson. It is a cute song which surprisingly reflects our relationship well and the best part… it’s short. Greg is not a fan of slow dancing!
Wedding Favors?
We skipped out on favors.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Riviera Maya, Mexico. We had a wonderful time eating, drinking and relaxing. I highly recommend going!
If there was one thing you would tell someone planning their wedding, what would it be?
Hmmm… I would tell all you brides-to-be to not get wrapped up in what the wedding industry throws at you. Your wedding day is just that, yours. It should reflect you and your fiancé’s style. Think about what makes sense to you and make it happen. For example, the bridesmaids and I stood on the right hand side during the ceremony (traditionally that’s where the groomsman stand) but I wanted to see my parents so, we switched it up. Makes sense to me. J
What was your favorite part about your wedding day?
My favorite part of our wedding day was when I was reading my vows to Greg and I looked up at him. He was staring right at me and his eyes were filled with tears. It is an image I will never forget…
Check out their show!
